Software Dev. Engineer Internship

Job Location: Vancouver, BC; Toronto, ON; Winnipeg, MB; Victoria, BC; Ottawa, ON; Calgary, AB (Canada)

Job Type: Internship (Full-time, 12 weeks). Interns take ownership of their work and see the direct impact of what they build; Amazon provides an environment built on learning, mentorship and real-world engineering experience; You will work on projects, take part in technical discussions and grow your skills while contributing to cloud-scale systems.

Duties:

• Work with cross-disciplinary teams to design and build solutions that improve customer experiences.
• Develop scalable applications using cloud-native and microservices architectures.
• Review code, write documentation, and contribute to team development practices;
• Build and maintain distributed systems that are resilient, fault-tolerant, and cost-efficient.
• Use and contribute to AI-powered development tools to improve engineering productivity.
• Write clean code that follows proven design patterns and industry best practices;
• Participate in agile development, including CI/CD workflows and operational responsibilities.
• Monitor systems, troubleshoot issues, and support production environments.

Qualifications:

• At least 18 years old and enrolled in a bachelor’s program or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related STEM field.
• Hands-on experience with at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design;
• Able to work 40 hours per week for 12 weeks.
• Graduation date expected between October 2026 and September 2029;
• Preferred skills include experience with cloud platforms, open-source contributions, database systems, version control, debugging, distributed systems, and AI tools for development.
• Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new technologies, and communicate clearly.

Benefits and Instructions:

• Hourly pay ranges from $43.13 to $72.02 depending on skills, experience, and location.
• Additional compensation such as equity or sign-on payments may be offered depending on the team.
