Job Title: Software Engineer, Chrome Networking Security
Location:
- Mountain View, CA, USA; Cambridge, MA, USA

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teams across Chrome Security, Chrome, and Google.
- Manage and prioritize assigned tasks and projects, delivering them on time with minimal guidance.
- Identify opportunities and implement solutions that improve the safety, reliability, scalability, and efficiency of owned code.
- Participate in security launch reviews and the Chrome Security Shepherding rotation or an equivalent rotation.
- Design and implement features, metrics, and tools to make Chrome more secure;
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.
- Work on Chrome's networking security, including HTTPS and low-level TLS protocol implementation.
- Contribute to technologies and web standards supporting the transition toward post-quantum cryptography.
- Help triage security vulnerabilities and conduct security reviews of features developed by other teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 2 years of software development experience using C++.
- At least 2 years of experience building software for Web Privacy or Security, such as identity and access management.
Preferred:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- At least 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Experience developing network security solutions.
- Experience building for the web, particularly Chromium browser development.
- Familiarity with transport layer security and related technologies.
Compensation and Benefits:
- US base salary: $147,000 to $210,000.
- 15% target bonus.

Additional Information:
- Chrome SWAN is responsible for securing connections between Chrome users and websites against eavesdropping, data modification, and site impersonation.
- The team manages HTTPS in Chrome, from low-level TLS implementation through policies such as the Chrome Root Program.
- Chrome is available on iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome OS.
- Chrome is an open-source project;
