Applied AI Software Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Applied AI Software Engineer. Location: Remote (Canada)

Responsibilities:

• Identify high-impact opportunities to apply AI/ML across research, development, and engineering workflows
• Design, prototype, and deploy AI-enabled tools for automation, analysis, and productivity improvement
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and technical leaders to solve complex problems
• Integrate AI capabilities into existing software platforms and engineering systems;
• Establish evaluation benchmarks to ensure AI solutions are accurate, reliable, and production-ready
• Prioritize AI initiatives based on feasibility, business value, and risk
• Communicate technical trade-offs and outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Contribute to AI governance, standards, and safe usage practices
• Mentor teams on practical adoption of AI tools and workflows

Qualifications:

• Graduate degree in Computer Science or Engineering with focus on AI, ML, or DL
• Strong understanding of modern neural network architectures and model selection
• 5+ years of experience applying AI/ML/DL in scientific, engineering, semiconductor, or quantum environments
• Experience with optimization, simulation-driven workflows, or design space exploration;
• Experience with secure AI deployment, model evaluation, and governance
• Strong software engineering skills with experience building production systems
• Ability to work in complex, research-driven environments;
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred:

• Experience with group theory, graph theory, or related mathematical frameworks
• Exposure to quantum error correction or quantum compiling
• Experience working in quantum or advanced technical domains

• Base salary range: $156,200 to $214,800 annually
