Job Description

Job Title: Device Metrology Tool Development Lead. Location: Delft, Netherlands

Job Type: Full-time, on-site

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and manage the critical path of the R&D project for scalable quantum device metrology tools
  • Prioritize and sequence technical tasks based on impact, dependencies, and resources
  • Guide system-level technical decisions using inputs from multiple engineering domains
  • Evaluate experimental strategies and validate measurement outcomes;
  • Identify capability gaps and support hiring or team development needs
  • Lead day-to-day coordination of cross-functional engineering teams
  • Collaborate with design, fabrication, and measurement experts to ensure efficient R&D cycles
  • Manage technical risks, bottlenecks, and uncertainty in project execution
  • Develop contingency plans and adapt strategies based on new technical insights
  • Act as technical interface with external partners and collaborators

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years experience as a project lead, systems engineer, technical program manager, or lead engineer
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Physics, Engineering, or related technical field
  • Strong understanding of full R&D lifecycle (design, build, test, measure);
  • Exposure to chip characterization, RF/microwave systems, or cryogenic engineering
  • Ability to work in ambiguous, fast-moving deep-tech environments
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills with a pragmatic execution focus

Preferred:

  • Experience in quantum computing, semiconductor metrology, aerospace, or complex hardware systems
  • Familiarity with high-throughput device testing and measurement automation
  • Experience working with cross-disciplinary scientific teams
  • Strong systems thinking and technical leadership experience
