Job Title: Director, Datacenter System Architecture. Location: Palo Alto, California, United States
Responsibilities:
- Own the system requirements specification, including rack height, form factor, connector type and count, faceplate, power, thermal performance, monitoring, and redundancy.
- Define the delivery strategy across internally built components and partner-built systems.
- Own the system-level thermal and power budget as an architectural constraint.
- Define the control and management interface for the customer's orchestration layer;
- Identify, evaluate, and work with OEM, ODM, joint venture, and strategic partners.
- Resolve cross-subsystem architectural trade-offs and prevent local optimizations from negatively affecting the overall system.
- Work with partners, manufacturing, and test teams on design for manufacturability and test access from the beginning of development.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of hardware systems engineering experience.
- 3+ years directing system architecture for a rack-mounted networking or datacenter product that has shipped.
- Strong understanding of datacenter hardware constraints, including rack-unit budgets, airflow, power delivery, front-panel density, serviceability, and environmental standards.
- Experience taking a system from specification through prototype and partner or contract-manufacturer production.
- Familiarity with datacenter cabling and high-density front-panel port requirements;
- Ability to write detailed system specifications that engineering teams can build against.

Salary:
- Zone 1, Bay Area and NYC: $219,300 to $257,700 USD annually.
- Zone 2, including Los Angeles and Washington DC: $197,300 to $231,900 USD annually.
- Zone 3, including Austin, Chicago, and Sacramento: $175,500 to $206,200 USD annually;
- Zone 4, including Nashville, Phoenix/Tempe, and many remote locations: $153,500 to $180,400 USD annually.
- Actual compensation depends on qualifications, education, training, experience, geographic location, business needs, and internal equity.
