Job Description
Job Title: Electrical Engineer I. Location: Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada
Responsibilities:
- Assemble, test, upgrade, and maintain electrical and electronic assemblies, including programmable power supplies and FPGA-based high-speed electronics
- Troubleshoot electrical, electronics, software, and cryogenic systems with guidance from senior engineers
- Support system installations, upgrades, and maintenance in laboratory and customer environments
- Perform preventative maintenance and provide day-to-day engineering lab support;
- Install, configure, and maintain software on control servers
- Execute engineering and production system tests while improving testing procedures
- Create and maintain technical documentation, test records, and engineering procedures
- Collaborate with Engineering Change Control and cross-functional teams to improve engineering processes and system performance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
- At least 2 years of experience in an engineering or laboratory environment
- Working knowledge of Python or C/C++ programming
- Basic understanding of FPGA concepts and VHDL or Verilog;
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and electromechanical schematics and drawings
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
- Willingness to participate in field work and an on-call support rotation
Preferred:
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration with EGBC, or eligibility to obtain it
- Experience supporting complex electrical, cryogenic, or quantum hardware systems
- Interest in continuous learning and contributing to research and development projects
Benefits And Compensation:
- Base salary of CAD $89,000 to CAD $122,000 per year

Other Information:
- Approximately 10% travel across North America and Europe
