Job Description

Job Title: Senior Equipment Maintenance Technician (Morning Shift). Location: Fremont, CA, USA

This on-site role focuses on maintaining and repairing advanced semiconductor fabrication equipment inside an R&D cleanroom; The position is critical to keeping wafer production tools running safely and efficiently for quantum computing hardware.

Duties:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on wafer fabrication equipment.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot vacuum process tools including PVD, ALD, evaporation, deposition, plasma, and dry etch systems.
  • Support wet processing systems such as wet etch tools, solvent benches, wet benches, and chemical handling systems;
  • Maintain auxiliary equipment including lithography tools, metrology systems like SEM, wafer and wire bonding tools, and electrical test tools.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues quickly and safely to return tools to production.
  • Keep detailed documentation for tools, calibrations, specifications, and SOP-based maintenance.
  • Assist with fab operations including chemical waste handling, consumable restocking, and gowning supply management.
  • Support engineering teams with metrology and data collection during tool issues;
  • Follow all EHS rules with a strong focus on cleanroom safety, chemical handling, LOTO, and hazmat procedures.
  • Serve as a trained member of the site Emergency Response Team and respond to incidents when required.

Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years of hands-on experience maintaining semiconductor or MEMS fabrication equipment.
  • Strong experience with vacuum-based processing tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and gas or liquid piping diagrams.
  • Proven experience performing equipment repairs, upgrades, and hardware modifications.
  • Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment with strict safety requirements;
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and documentation practices.
  • Technical training, degree, or military technical background is preferred.
  • Experience across dry etch, wet etch, lithography, metrology, bonding, and R&D environments is a plus.
  • Experience with manual wafer handling is preferred.

  • Hourly pay range: $50–$60 per hour, based on experience and location.
  • Morning shift schedule from 6:00am to 2:30pm, with training aligned to this shift.
