Fabrication Engineer II

Job Description

Job Title: Fabrication Engineer II. Location: New Haven, Connecticut, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate, characterize, and perform quality control testing of current-generation and next-generation quantum processing units (QPUs)
  • Operate clean-room equipment including metal deposition systems, electron-beam lithography, optical lithography, and wet and dry etching tools
  • Perform routine maintenance of fabrication equipment and support qualification of new tools;
  • Design and execute statistical process control (SPC) and design of experiment (DOE) procedures to monitor fabrication performance
  • Analyze process yield and metrology data to identify and resolve manufacturing issues
  • Conduct failure analysis on defective devices and determine root causes;
  • Develop and execute experiments to improve device quality, fabrication processes, and production efficiency
  • Support the development and commissioning of D-Wave's new fabrication facility in New Haven

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of semiconductor manufacturing or related fabrication industry experience
  • Experience working in clean-room production environments
  • Experience with wet etching, dry etching, metal deposition, and optical lithography processes
  • Experience using metrology tools such as SEM, AFM, and profilometers;
  • Ability to execute manufacturing processes with high precision and consistency
  • Ability to independently design and perform fabrication experiments
  • Strong documentation, communication, and technical reporting skills
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary physics and engineering teams
