Facilities Operations Specialist

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Facilities Operations Specialist. Location: Burnaby, Canada

Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily facility operations with focus on electrical, mechanical, and critical infrastructure systems
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs, equipment installation, lifecycle planning, and capacity management
  • Maintain and analyze monitoring and reporting systems for technical building infrastructure
  • Ensure accuracy of electrical panel schedules, single-line diagrams, and mechanical drawings
  • Coordinate and manage external vendors, contracts, and compliance with safety standards;
  • Maintain full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and respond to emergencies when required
  • Identify risks early and escalate potential operational issues
  • Improve facility processes, procedures, and system performance
  • Support long-term infrastructure planning to enhance reliability, efficiency, and operational stability
  • Track equipment performance metrics and KPIs to enable data-driven decisions;
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, operations staff, and external partners to support quantum systems infrastructure

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Building Sciences, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities operations, critical environments, data centers, or industrial settings
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, power distribution, and complex electrical and mechanical systems
  • Experience with building management systems, monitoring platforms, and CAD documentation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Proven experience managing timelines, estimating effort, and delivering moderately complex projects
  • Strong analytical skills to resolve technical problems and respond effectively during emergencies
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Experience developing facility policies, documentation, and operational runbooks
  • Proactive mindset with accountability for operational outcomes

Preferred:

  • Certifications such as CDCP, Power Engineer, Building Environmental Systems Operator, Facilities Management
  • Engineering designation such as EIT or P.Eng
  • Experience supporting infrastructure related to quantum systems or other advanced technologies
