Director, Cryogenic Packaging

Job Description

Job Title: Director, Cryogenic Packaging. Location: Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada (Hybrid)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategy, development, and production of cryogenic packaging and superconducting packaging technologies for Quantum Processor Units
  • Own superconducting PCB manufacturing capability, including capacity planning, technology maturity, quality standards, and operational readiness
  • Build, scale, and lead Cryogenic Packaging and Superconducting PCB Manufacturing teams with strong succession planning and long-term stability
  • Define and align the long-term technical roadmap for multi-chip cryogenic integrated circuit packaging with the company’s quantum platform strategy
  • Ensure reliable access to advanced superconducting multi-chip packaging technologies aligned with future product generations
  • Set high cultural, technical, and scientific standards for Cryogenic Packaging at the Burnaby R&D facility;
  • Anticipate future system and product needs and develop required capabilities ahead of demand
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, academic research, and external innovations for possible integration into the product roadmap
  • Build and maintain strong vendor and partner relationships to secure long-term access to advanced packaging technologies
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across hardware, fabrication, cryogenics, systems, and product leadership
  • Promote disciplined experimentation, portfolio-level risk management, and operational reliability;
  • Translate technical risks, progress, and trade-offs into executive-level insights for strategic decisions
  • Establish strong operational processes including quality control, confidentiality, and scalable packaging programs
  • Serve as a senior advisor to leadership on matters impacting the quantum computing roadmap

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field
  • 15+ years of experience in advanced hardware or technology development
  • 7+ years of leadership experience in technical, R&D, or manufacturing environments
  • Proven experience leading complex, multidisciplinary technology programs from development through production
  • Strong ability to build and sustain high-performing teams with focus on accountability and inclusion
  • Sound decision-making skills in complex and high-impact situations;
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to executives
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and deliver results with high quality and reliability
