Quantum Electronics Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Electronics Engineer. Location: Daresbury, England, United Kingdom

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop RF and high-speed electronic systems for quantum hardware applications
• Support development of electro-optic packages and modulator driving electronics
• Build low-latency electronic systems for quantum control and readout;
• Work on readout systems for superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors (SNSPDs)
• Collaborate with photonics and quantum teams to integrate electronics with optical systems
• Assist with FPGA-based system design, implementation, and data acquisition
• Debug and optimize complex quantum hardware systems

Qualifications:

• PhD or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field
• Strong background in RF and high-speed electronic design
• Experience working with electro-optic or photonic hardware systems;
• Understanding of signal integrity, timing, and noise in high-performance systems
• Hands-on laboratory experience with electronic testing and measurement equipment

Preferred:

• Experience designing electronics for quantum or cryogenic systems
• Familiarity with FPGA development and programming
• Knowledge of superconducting nanowire detector readout electronics
• Experience with low-latency system design and high-speed data acquisition
• Experience with ASIC development or collaboration on ASIC-based electronic systems

• Base salary range of £50,000 – £57,000 GBP
