Quantum Computing Libraries Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Quantum Computing Libraries Engineer. Location: Santa Clara, California, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, optimize, and maintain GPU-accelerated quantum computing libraries across multiple hardware generations
  • Design high-performance HPC algorithms for large-scale quantum circuit simulations
  • Analyze GPU, CPU, multi-GPU, and multi-node performance to improve algorithm efficiency;
  • Collaborate with research, developer technology, and product management teams on quantum computing and machine learning projects
  • Work with external researchers and partners to understand technical requirements and use cases
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
  • Improve software performance through algorithmic and implementation-based optimizations

Qualifications:

  • PhD or MSc in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python
  • Experience with GPU programming, multithreading, MPI, and hardware-aware optimization;
  • Experience developing scientific software for quantum simulations, circuit simulators, compilers, or hybrid quantum-classical computing
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and technical documentation skills
  • Experience using agentic coding tools

Preferred:

  • Experience with quantum computing frameworks such as Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane, or similar platforms
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
  • Strong knowledge of HPC technologies and communication algorithms
  • Experience with numerical methods, Hamiltonian integrals, and quantum simulation techniques
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments with globally distributed teams

Benefits And Compensation:

  • Annual base salary of $184,000 to $287,500 (Level 4) or $224,000 to $356,500 (Level 5)
