Job Description
Job Title: Quantum Error Correction Researcher. Location: Santa Barbara, California, Redmond, Washington, USA
Job Type: Full-time, hybrid (3 days per week in office)
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop novel fault-tolerance strategies for scalable quantum computing systems
- Advance the theory and implementation of quantum error correction codes
- Contribute to the development of logical and physical qubit architectures;
- Conduct research and experimentation for resilient quantum computing platforms
- Collaborate with theorists, experimental physicists, hardware designers, and software engineers
- Solve technical challenges related to quantum system design and scalability;
- Support a collaborative and research-driven engineering culture
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with relevant research or industry experience
- Experience in research, predictive analytics, or quantum computing environments
- Ability to meet Microsoft security screening and export control requirements;
- Ability to apply AI tools for engineering acceleration, automation, and analysis
- Experience developing production or prototype code for research applications
Preferred:
- PhD with additional research experience in a relevant field
- Experience publishing academic research papers
- Experience presenting at top conferences in relevant domains
- Experience with quantum error correction, fault-tolerant quantum computing, or QCVV
- Strong research background in scalable quantum computing systems;
- Experience collaborating across theoretical and experimental research teams
Benefits and Compensation:
- Research Sciences IC4 salary range: $119,800 to $234,700 annually in most U.S. locations
- Higher salary range available in San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area
- Research Sciences IC5 salary range: $142,800 to $274,800 annually in most U.S. locations;
- Additional compensation and benefits may apply depending on role and location
