Job Title: Principal Quantum Systems Architect. Location: Redmond, Washington, USA
Job Type: Full-time, hybrid (3 days per week in office)
Responsibilities:
- Define scalable architectures for quantum control and readout systems across room-temperature and cryogenic environments
- Design compute and communication systems supporting measurement, feedback, and control workloads
- Lead hardware and software co-design strategies across quantum systems;
- Develop synchronization, dataflow, and low-latency communication frameworks
- Guide architectural decisions for scalable and production-ready quantum computing platforms
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering and research teams;
- Support long-term system evolution and integration across the quantum stack
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field
- 6+ years of programming experience in relevant programming languages;
- Experience developing commercial software, scientific computing systems, or large-scale distributed systems
- Experience working in collaborative engineering or research environments
- Ability to pass Microsoft security and export-control screening requirements;
- Familiarity with AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Office Copilot, or ChatGPT
- Ability to work in an AI-first engineering environment
Preferred:
- Experience designing complex compute, accelerator, networking, or signal-processing architectures
- Strong understanding of system architecture, interconnects, memory systems, and hardware/software partitioning
- Experience balancing scalability, reliability, performance, and power trade-offs
- Experience with RF signal processing and quantum measurement systems;
- Familiarity with quantum error correction, quantum control, or readout systems
- Experience with FPGA, ASIC, or custom accelerator technologies
- Experience with cryogenic or constrained computing environments;
- Experience guiding large-scale systems from concept through production
