Research Scientist, Superconducting Digital Electronics

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Research Scientist, Superconducting Digital Electronics, Quantum AI. Location: Multiple US locations (Cambridge, Mountain View, Seattle, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Goleta)

Responsibilities:

  • Design and simulate superconducting digital logic circuits such as SFQ and AQFP for qubit control and readout
  • Develop digital logic systems for multiplexed qubit control and scalable quantum hardware integration
  • Solve integration challenges including signal integrity, flux trapping, clock synchronization, and multi-layer chip design
  • Collaborate with fabrication, design, and measurement teams to validate quantum processors;
  • Contribute to research publications and present findings at scientific conferences

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in superconducting logic families such as RSFQ, ERSFQ, RQL, HFQ, or AQFP
  • Experience performing superconducting IC chip tape-out;
  • Published research paper or conference presentation in relevant field
  • Strong background in quantum or superconducting systems research

Preferred:

  • PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
  • 7+ years experience in superconducting digital logic design and simulation
  • Experience leading R&D teams through IC tape-out and validation cycles;
  • Full digital design flow experience including RTL, synthesis, verification, and layout
  • Experience with low-temperature measurements of superconducting circuits
  • Familiarity with superconducting qubits and cryogenic control systems
  • Proficiency with CAD tools and electromagnetic simulation tools

  • $174,000 to $253,000 base salary
  • ~15% bonus target plus equity and benefits;
