Scientific Software Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Scientific Software Engineer. Location: Delft, Netherlands

Job Type: Full-time, on-site / hybrid

Responsibilities:

• Lead development of scientific software tools for quantum device and QPU design workflows
• Architect and improve codebases to accelerate quantum processor development
• Build and maintain automated testing systems and Design Rule Checks (DRC) for device quality
• Manage CI/CD pipelines and ensure scalable software integration across teams;
• Collaborate with physicists and RF engineers using tools like ANSYS, KLayout, and Quantum design frameworks
• Refactor and optimize existing code to improve performance and maintainability

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of software development experience in scientific or engineering environments
• Strong experience in Python and scientific computing libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib
• Experience in software architecture, testing, and large-scale codebase management;
• Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM field
• Experience working in cross-disciplinary engineering teams

Preferred:

• Experience with quantum design tools such as Qiskit Metal, GDSFactory, KLayout, ANSYS, or Sonnet
• Familiarity with superconducting circuits or quantum hardware principles
• Exposure to microwave engineering or RF design environments
• Experience in quantum computing software ecosystems
