Senior Software Platform Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Software Platform Engineer. Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; Remote

Responsibilities:

• Own and improve AWS infrastructure, including ECS/EKS, multi-account networking, and production systems
• Reduce friction in deployment pipelines and make CI/CD workflows faster, more reliable, and easier to debug
• Harden systems with security best practices, including IAM roles, container images, and authentication flows
• Implement monitoring and alerting to catch production issues proactively;
• Lead incident response and post-mortems when necessary
• Support GPU clusters and HPC workloads for quantum simulations, ensuring CUDA compatibility, driver versions, and SLURM job workflows
• Package and containerize Python simulation code for reproducible execution
• Monitor job health, cost, utilization, and runtime efficiency

Qualifications:

• 5+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles
• Production experience with AWS infrastructure, ECS/EKS, VPCs, and security groups
• Experience writing and maintaining Terraform (or Pulumi/CDK) in production;
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or equivalents
• GPU/HPC experience including CUDA debugging and job scheduler setup

Preferred:

• Background in scientific computing, ML platforms, research infrastructure, or early-stage startups
• Security and compliance experience including Auth0/Okta or FedRAMP systems;
• Exposure to quantum computing SDKs (Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane) or hybrid classical-quantum workflows
