Job Description
Job Title: Research Scientist, Modeling Two-Qubit Gates, Couplers, Quantum AI. Location: Goleta, California, USA
Responsibilities:
- Simulate two-qubit gates for transmons and model tunable couplers
- Develop physics-based models for gate error mechanisms, including errors caused by pulse distortions
- Optimize system parameters numerically for improved performance;
- Analyze experimental data on two-qubit gates and propose new gates with advanced capabilities
- Collaborate closely with the hardware team to align theoretical models with experimental results
- Contribute to the wider research community by publishing findings and sharing insights
Qualifications:
- PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience with coding in Python;
- One or more scientific publications in quantum computing-related conferences, journals, or public repositories
Preferred:
- Experience with superconducting qubits, including modeling, calibration, and characterization of two-qubit gates
- Familiarity with tunable couplers, parametric gates, flux/charge noise analysis, and multi-chip interconnections
- Knowledge of quantum error correction with superconducting qubits;
- Experience analyzing or modeling experimental data and microwave pulse distortions
Benefits and Compensation:
- Base salary range: $147,000–$211,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits
