Job Description
Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer. Location: Geneva, Switzerland
Responsibilities:
- Own mechanical design from prototype through industrialized product release, including CAD documentation, assembly bring-up, and validation testing.
- Develop compact, robust, cost-effective mechanical solutions for quantum systems.
- Drive thermal management through heat sinking, conduction, convection, interfaces, and material selection.
- Ensure dimensional stability, manufacturability, and compliance with design requirements;
- Perform thermal simulations to predict temperatures, gradients, and heat flows.
- Correlate simulation models with laboratory measurements and optimize designs based on test results.
- Collaborate with optical, electronic, and systems engineers to optimize interfaces and block specifications.
- Work with external suppliers to efficiently prototype and manufacture components.
- Support multiple projects as a mechanical subject-matter expert.
- Improve design practices and promote a rigorous engineering approach.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Microtechnology, or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Hands-on experience designing sheet metal and/or machined parts.
- Strong experience developing thermal dissipation solutions for compact systems;
- Solid mechanical engineering foundation and experience delivering compact, industrial-grade designs.
- Knowledge of applicable standards and compliance requirements, including EMC and electrical/product safety.
- Experience taking mechanical subsystems through requirements, design, verification, and industrialization.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary Agile environment.
- Fluency in English is required.
- French is considered an advantage.
- Familiarity with cryogenic systems is an advantage.
