Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer. Location: Geneva, Switzerland

Responsibilities:

  • Own mechanical design from prototype through industrialized product release, including CAD documentation, assembly bring-up, and validation testing.
  • Develop compact, robust, cost-effective mechanical solutions for quantum systems.
  • Drive thermal management through heat sinking, conduction, convection, interfaces, and material selection.
  • Ensure dimensional stability, manufacturability, and compliance with design requirements;
  • Perform thermal simulations to predict temperatures, gradients, and heat flows.
  • Correlate simulation models with laboratory measurements and optimize designs based on test results.
  • Collaborate with optical, electronic, and systems engineers to optimize interfaces and block specifications.
  • Work with external suppliers to efficiently prototype and manufacture components.
  • Support multiple projects as a mechanical subject-matter expert.
  • Improve design practices and promote a rigorous engineering approach.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Microtechnology, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and product development.
  • Hands-on experience designing sheet metal and/or machined parts.
  • Strong experience developing thermal dissipation solutions for compact systems;
  • Solid mechanical engineering foundation and experience delivering compact, industrial-grade designs.
  • Knowledge of applicable standards and compliance requirements, including EMC and electrical/product safety.
  • Experience taking mechanical subsystems through requirements, design, verification, and industrialization.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary Agile environment.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • French is considered an advantage.
  • Familiarity with cryogenic systems is an advantage.
