Development Engineer - Hardware Verification

Job Description

Job Title: Development Engineer - Hardware Verification (m/f/x). Location: Ehningen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

Responsibilities:

• Verify complex hardware designs for future IBM server and AI systems in a pre-silicon environment.
• Develop verification solutions using modern programming languages and automation frameworks.
• Build simulation environments, reference models, test generators, and verification infrastructure.
• Analyze system behavior, investigate issues, and work with design teams to resolve them;
• Collaborate with architecture, logic design, firmware, research, and tooling teams worldwide.
• Apply DevOps practices to hardware development and verification workflows.
• Use AI-powered development tools to improve productivity, code quality, and engineering efficiency.
• Continuously improve verification methodologies, automation capabilities, and quality metrics;
• Contribute to technologies supporting IBM's AI, Cloud, and Quantum Computing roadmaps.

Qualifications:

• Recently completed or soon-to-be-completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field.
• Strong software development skills, ideally in Python or C++.
• Knowledge of computer architecture, digital systems, or hardware design concepts.
• Interest in applying AI technologies to engineering and development processes.
• Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented mindset.
• Initial experience with VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, or related technologies is a plus;
• Interest in software engineering, automation, and DevOps methodologies.
• Familiarity with GitHub, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, or cloud-native tools.
• Strong English communication skills and ability to collaborate internationally.
• Advanced German language skills are preferred.
