Electromechanical Production Assembler

Job Description

Job Title: Electromechanical Production Assembler III. Location: Burnaby, Canada

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly instructions, BOMs, schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Assemble mechanical and electromechanical systems, including gas handling racks, manifolds, tubing systems, vacuum components, and related hardware.
  • Cut, bend, route, and install stainless steel tubing, fittings, valves, regulators, gauges, sensors, pumps, and instrumentation.
  • Install, align, fasten, and adjust components to ensure proper fit and functionality;
  • Perform basic electrical assembly tasks, including cable routing, connector installation, labeling, and simple test setup.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, torque tools, measuring equipment, and shop tools.
  • Carry out drilling, tapping, deburring, fitting, alignment, pressure testing, vacuum testing, and helium leak checking.
  • Complete production logs, work orders, inspection records, and assembly documentation;
  • Communicate build progress, technical issues, and process improvement ideas with the team.
  • Support improvements to assembly methods, tooling, fixtures, work instructions, and documentation.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Assist with laboratory, production, shipping, receiving, and shop activities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary technical diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience assembling complex mechanical or electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with tubing, fittings, manifolds, gas, vacuum, pressure systems, instrumentation, or mechanical rack assembly.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, schematics, and written work instructions.
  • Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, torque tools, measuring tools, and shop equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently;
  • Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and eager to learn new skills.
  • Physically able to stand, bend, lift, and work with mechanical assemblies for extended periods.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Swagelok or similar compression fittings.
  • Experience with high-vacuum leak checking, pressure testing, or cryogenic assembly.
  • Pump maintenance or machine shop experience.
  • Shipping and receiving experience.
  • Experience working in startup, research and development, or low-volume, high-complexity manufacturing environments.

  • Base salary of CAD $57,000 to CAD $78,000 per year.
