Job Description
Job Title: PhD Intern - Trapped-Ion Quantum Computing Theory. Location: Broomfield, Colorado, USA
Responsibilities:
- Apply previous experience in research to help measure and improve quantum computers using trapped ions as qubits
- Work alongside teams of scientists to bring new concepts to life
- Collect data on system performance, characterize device characteristics, and propose methods for improvements
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program
- Graduating on or after December 2026;
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or green card holder; asylum or refugee status accepted)
- Candidates must not be nationals of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen
Preferred:
- 2+ years’ experience (PhD inclusive) in atomic physics, quantum benchmarking, quantum information, or quantum computing
- Experience performing simulation and modeling to inform experiments
- Experience constructing quantum circuits;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with published research results

- $24 to $35 per hour
