Job Description

Job Title: Principal UHV Systems Engineer. Location: Copenhagen, Denmark (Capital Region)

Responsibilities:

• Act as primary technical reviewer for ultra-high vacuum (UHV) hardware designs, ensuring robustness, manufacturability, and compliance with requirements
• Lead large-scale hardware development projects and coordinate multi-engineer execution for timely delivery
• Translate functional requirements into practical engineering solutions with cross-functional teams
• Own the technical roadmap for improving existing tools, focusing on performance, reliability, and quality
• Drive engineering excellence by improving processes, standards, and design methods;
• Work closely with suppliers to ensure quality, schedule, and technical alignment
• Mentor engineers and support technical growth across the team
• Identify and mitigate risks early in the design cycle through structured evaluation
• Stay updated on UHV technologies, materials, and industry practices

Qualifications:

• Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
• Strong experience in UHV system design, fabrication, and validation
• Deep understanding of vacuum physics, sealing methods, and material compatibility
• Proven ability to review complex engineering designs and identify risks early
• Experience leading hardware development projects at system level;
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional environments
• Experience working with suppliers on technical execution and quality control

Preferred:

• Experience in semiconductor or scientific instrumentation industries
• Familiarity with CAD tools and simulation methods like FEA, thermal, and structural analysis
• Experience leading engineering process improvement initiatives
• Strong mentoring and leadership abilities;
• System-level thinking with ability to manage ambiguity and refine requirements
• Experience using AI tools to improve engineering workflows, including automation and analysis

Other information:

• Role includes travel less than 25%
• Requires compliance with Microsoft security screening and export control regulations
• Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check;
• Citizenship or residency verification required for security clearance
• Strong focus on engineering leadership, supplier coordination, and system-level hardware development
