Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Life Sciences Chemist. Location: Palo Alto, CA, USA; Remote

This role focuses on applying fault-tolerant quantum computing and hybrid quantum-classical methods to solve challenges in drug design, biomolecular modeling and biological systems simulation; You will integrate quantum algorithms with conventional life sciences workflows to enable new approaches in pharmaceuticals, biomaterials and bioinformatics.

Duties:

  • Conduct research and develop quantum-informed computational workflows for biomolecular modeling, drug discovery, and computational chemistry.
  • Collaborate with quantum algorithm experts to identify where quantum computing can have the greatest impact in life sciences applications.
  • Contribute to the development of hybrid quantum-classical algorithms and workflows for molecular simulations;
  • Serve as a technical lead in customer projects by integrating quantum outputs into conventional life sciences processes.
  • Act as liaison between partner teams and PsiQuantum’s quantum information experts to prioritize and select algorithms relevant to life sciences.
  • Develop and implement computational workflows that combine high-performance computing with quantum computing capabilities.
  • Stay updated on recent academic literature, trends, and tools in computational chemistry, biomolecular modeling, and quantum computing.
  • Build and maintain external partnerships and collaborations to advance quantum-enabled life sciences research;
  • Document progress, prepare internal reports, and support scientific communication through publications and presentations.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in computational chemistry, biophysics, bioinformatics, or a closely related field. Postdoctoral experience is preferred but not required.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular modeling, simulation of biological systems, and computational chemistry techniques;
  • Expert-level Python skills, with experience in scientific computing libraries; proficiency in C++ or Fortran is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of hybrid quantum-classical methods, quantum computing principles, or quantum algorithms applied to biological or chemical systems is preferred.
  • Experience in integrating computational workflows with machine learning methods is an advantage;
  • Strong problem-solving, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Ability to stay current with scientific literature and trends in quantum life sciences applications.
