Job Description

Job Title: Research Scientist Intern, Quantum Algorithms, Center for Quantum Computing. Location: Pasadena, CA, or San Francisco, CA, USA
Job type: Full-time research internship (12 weeks)

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with global experts to develop novel quantum algorithms.
• Evaluate potential applications of fault-tolerant quantum computers.
• Apply mathematical and numerical analysis to assess quantum algorithm performance.
• Compare quantum algorithms to classical alternatives to establish computational advantage;
• Work in areas including quantum chemistry, quantum machine learning, cryptography, optimization theory, and quantum error correction.
• Access advanced computing infrastructure, cutting-edge research papers, and mentorship from industry experts.
• Strengthen technical expertise, critical thinking, and communication skills in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Able to commit 40 hours/week for a maximum of 12 weeks.
• Willing to relocate to the internship location.

Preferred:

• Expertise in a subarea of quantum algorithms or related topic in theoretical quantum information science.
• Knowledge of Python, R, or MATLAB scripting languages.
• Interest in staying updated on new research developments in quantum computation.

• Competitive pay: Pasadena, CA – $136,000 to $184,000 USD annually; San Francisco, CA – $157,300 to $212,800 USD annually.
