Job Type: Internship, with part-time or full-time opportunities depending on the project.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in research projects focused on developing solutions to real-world, large-scale problems.
- Explore innovative research challenges and contribute to scientific advancement through experimental, theoretical, or applied research.
- Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and scientists to develop new approaches and technologies;
- Contribute to research across Google's teams, including Google DeepMind, Google Research, Google Cloud, and other research organizations.
- Apply relevant computer science techniques to projects involving areas such as artificial intelligence, algorithm optimization, quantum information science, sustainability, and intelligent systems.
- Support research initiatives that advance computing and improve Google's products and technologies.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Linguistics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Natural Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in at least one computer science area, such as Natural Language Understanding, Human-Computer Interaction, Generative Media, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Algorithmic Foundations of Optimization, Quantum Information Science, Data Science, or Software Engineering.
- Must maintain student status and be enrolled in an accredited degree program located in the EMEA region throughout the engagement.
- Must be physically located in one of the specified countries for the entire duration of the engagement;
- Must hold valid work authorization or meet the local immigration eligibility requirements for the selected work location.
Preferred:
- Currently enrolled in a full-time degree program in the EMEA region and planning to return to the program after completing the internship.
- Previous research experience through internships, full-time employment, or laboratory work.
- Contributions to research communities, including published papers in major conferences or academic journals;
- Experience programming in one or more general-purpose languages, such as C, C++, Java, MATLAB, Go, or Python.
Compensation and Benefits:
The listed annual compensation varies by degree level and work location:
- Bachelor's degree: Germany, €68,500; France, €53,000; Sweden, SEK 545,000; Netherlands, €68,500.
- Master's degree: Germany, €71,000; France, €54,000; Sweden, SEK 560,000; Netherlands, €71,000.
- PhD degree: Germany, €85,000; France, €66,000; Sweden, SEK 670,000; Netherlands, €86,500;
- All listed compensation figures have a 0% bonus target.
- Compensation is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, education, and training.
