AI Specialist - Reinforcement Learning

Job Description

Job Title: AI Specialist - Representation and Reinforcement Learning. Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Responsibilities:

• Analyze complex structured and unstructured R&D data to identify patterns and insights
• Develop advanced machine learning methods including representation learning, reinforcement learning, and generative models
• Design and implement optimization algorithms based on learned representations
• Build and test new ML models and toolkits to improve research efficiency;
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to create AI-driven solutions for research challenges
• Maintain reproducible workflows for data analysis and modeling
• Contribute to internal tools supporting the development of quantum computing systems

Qualifications:

• BSc in Physics, Math, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 4+ years of experience in AI, deep learning, or machine learning
• Strong knowledge of Python and scientific libraries such as JAX, NumPy, PyTorch, and others
• Deep understanding of machine learning theory, mathematics, and optimization
• Experience building scalable ML models including RL, LLMs, or generative models;
• Experience with software development practices such as version control, testing, and CI/CD
• Comfortable with Linux, Docker, Git, and cloud platforms
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• Good knowledge of physics and linear algebra

Preferred:

• MSc or PhD in a relevant field
• Strong background in physics and linear algebra
• Interest or exposure to quantum computing;
• Experience in geometric deep learning, GFlowNet, or advanced ML systems
• Experience in simulation of physical systems or high-performance computing
• Experience training large-scale ML models

Benefits and Compensation:

• Salary range: 120,000 to 170,000 CAD per year
