Customer Success Director, Europe

Job Description

Job Title: Customer Success Director, Europe. Location: Basel, Switzerland

You will create training material, support workshops, and serve as a trusted advisor to technical and non-technical customers; You will also collaborate with internal teams, represent IonQ at events, and help shape customer-centric improvements across products and training programs.

Duties:

  • Work directly with global customers using IonQ’s trapped-ion systems and help them solve real problems.
  • Understand customer technical needs, remove barriers to adoption, reduce churn, and increase retention.
  • Create training programs, workshops, and other learning content to grow IonQ’s user base;
  • Build new training offerings based on customer feedback and company goals, including code examples, circuits, slides, videos, and course material.
  • Teach workshops online and in person, and support trainers and application researchers with clear learning modules.
  • Use knowledge of optimization, machine learning, and chemistry or materials simulation to guide customers in building quantum circuits and workflows.
  • Gain a deep understanding of IonQ’s hardware and software to help customers optimize performance.
  • Represent IonQ on industry panels, committees, and working groups.
  • Work with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Engineering to share customer insights that improve products and documentation.
  • Manage multiple projects using strong project management skills to align with company strategy;
  • Travel to customer sites and conferences in Europe and join evening meetings when needed to support global users.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operations Research, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in technical customer-facing roles with strong performance results.
  • At least 3 years creating customer-facing material such as playbooks and workflows;
  • Hands-on experience with Python and quantum SDKs such as Qiskit, Cirq, or PennyLane.
  • Experience with Jupyter Notebook, Google Colab, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of physics and math used in quantum computing, including linear algebra and probability.
  • Ability to teach and explain complex ideas to different audiences.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills;
  • Ability to live in or near Basel, Switzerland.

Preferred:

  • Deep understanding of different quantum hardware platforms and how hardware and software interact.
  • Experience in quantum information science.
  • Experience working with subscription or renewal-based business models.
  • Experience creating business strategies supported by data;
  • Ability to discuss technical and business topics with professionals in industries such as finance, healthcare, chemistry, computer vision, and operations research.
