Electrical Technician

Job Description

Job Title: Electrical Technician. Location: Oxford, England, United Kingdom

Responsibilities:

  • Build and commission the electrical and electronic systems of advanced trapped-ion quantum computers
  • Assemble electronic subsystems and perform electrical wiring and integration
  • Conduct fault finding and continuity testing on electronic assemblies
  • Work from mechanical and electrical drawings to complete high-precision builds;
  • Support engineers and scientists with system installations, upgrades, and research projects
  • Assist in assembling PCBs, surface mount components, and delicate precision parts
  • Contribute to vacuum and electronic system assembly for quantum hardware
  • Produce clear technical documentation for builds and processes;
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab and workshop environment
  • Test high-technology equipment before shipping

Qualifications:

  • Around 3 years of relevant industrial operations experience
  • Strong hands-on experience in electronics, electrical wiring, and subsystem assembly
  • Proven experience with electrical fault finding and diagnostic testing
  • Ability to assemble high-precision or delicate components
  • Experience working in environments requiring PPE;
  • Familiarity with testing advanced scientific or technical equipment prior to shipping
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings

Preferred:

  • Experience assembling and testing RF scientific instrumentation
  • Background working in a start-up or fast-growth technology environment
  • Relevant technical or engineering qualifications
