Job Description
Job Title: Engineering Technician. Location: Oxford, England, United Kingdom
Responsibilities:
- Support the Quantum Infrastructure team with sub-assembly builds and parts control.
- Perform mechanical assembly and basic electrical wiring following clear build instructions and quality standards.
- Assist in system builds, upgrades, and daily lab projects within the quantum hardware program.
- Manage goods-in, receipting, stock control, and kitting to ensure accurate part availability.
- Maintain a safe and organized lab and stores environment, including PPE compliance and EHS discipline.
- Keep accurate records of completed work and inventory movements;
- Identify and report shortages, quality issues, or build risks early.
- Work closely with engineers, scientists, and senior technicians to ensure builds stay on schedule.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of relevant technician or industrial operations experience.
- Experience working in an assembly or lab environment with strong safety practices.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and basic wiring or cabling.
- Ability to follow build instructions, drawings, and documented procedures;
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on right-first-time builds and stock accuracy.
- Clear and reliable communication skills when working with engineers and technicians.
Preferred:
- Experience with goods receipting, kitting, and stock control with strong traceability.
- Soldering experience or willingness to train and qualify.
- Exposure to fibre optics, optics, electronics, or vacuum systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and build documentation;
- Familiarity with lab equipment handling and calibration coordination.
