Job Description
Job Title: Junior Mechanical Engineer. Location: Sydney, Australia
The position is ideal for someone who enjoys mechanical design, rapid prototyping, and solving practical engineering challenges within the quantum sensing domain.
Duties:
- Design and prototype mechanical components, enclosures, and fixtures for quantum sensors.
- Support the integration, commissioning, and field trials of sensor technologies.
- Collaborate with physicists, engineers, and stakeholders to develop precise measurement systems.
- Contribute to testing, validation, and documentation of newly commissioned sensors.
- Participate in building and maintaining mechanical and optical systems for quantum sensing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience designing and prototyping mechanical systems.
- Hands-on experience with CNC machining, 3D printing, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerances, and assembly processes.
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as Inventor or similar software.
- Advantageous to have experience in fast-paced prototyping, student design competitions, or R&D environments.
