Job Description
Job Title: Senior Scientist, Quantum Sensing (Modeling). Location: Sydney, Australia; Oxford, United Kingdom
You will work closely with theoretical and experimental teams to translate cutting-edge research into deployable quantum sensing capabilities with real impact.
Duties:
- Conduct research and development on quantum control solutions and sensor fusion algorithms for quantum sensors, including atom interferometers and magnetometers.
- Develop theoretical models and numerical simulation tools to assess sensor performance in realistic environments.
- Analyze sensor data and apply optimization, machine learning, and signal processing methods to improve performance.
- Collaborate with quantum control engineers, experimental physicists, and hardware specialists to deploy models and protocols on real devices.
- Work closely with the Quantum Sensing (Modeling) team and the wider Quantum Sensing Division;
- Share research outcomes through presentations, technical reports, academic publications, and internal or external communications.
- Support broader company goals through additional tasks aligned with skills and experience.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience in theory, numerical modeling, or optimization related to atom interferometry, cold or ultracold atoms, warm atomic vapor sensing, or pulse-level quantum control.
- Strong background in modeling real quantum systems and interpreting experimental data.
- Experience with Python for scientific computing is highly desirable;
- Ability and motivation to work in a fast-moving, collaborative research environment.
