Job Description
Job Title: Senior Electronics Technician. Location: Sydney, Australia
Responsibilities:
- Support the development, assembly, and testing of quantum sensing prototypes used in aerospace, defense, and other advanced applications.
- Assemble, wire, and troubleshoot prototype electronic systems including PCBAs, harnesses, and laboratory test rigs.
- Perform hands-on testing and validation of electronic systems using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, and other laboratory tools.
- Assist engineers and scientists with integrating electronics into complex quantum sensor systems;
- Build and maintain prototype hardware systems used in research and early-stage product development.
- Document prototype builds, testing procedures, wiring diagrams, and lab validation methods to ensure repeatability and quality control.
- Coordinate with suppliers and support procurement of components required for prototype systems.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, consumables, and ensure safe and organized lab practices;
- Mentor junior technicians and contribute to improving internal laboratory processes and standards;
- Support other engineering tasks aligned with the employee’s experience and skills, or after reasonable training.
Qualifications:
- Diploma, associate degree, or equivalent industry qualification in electronics or a related technical discipline.
- Strong experience in hands-on electronics assembly and testing at a senior technician level.
- Proven experience working in R&D environments alongside engineers and scientists.
- Strong practical skills in soldering including through-hole and fine-pitch SMT components.
- Experience in cable harness fabrication, prototype assembly, and laboratory electronics work;
- Ability to operate electronic testing equipment and interpret technical schematics and diagrams.
- Experience supporting the transition from laboratory prototypes to manufacturable hardware designs is beneficial.
- Strong motivation to work with a team building advanced quantum technology products.
