Scientist, Quantum Sensing (Atom Interferometry)

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Scientist, Quantum Sensing (Atom Interferometry). Location: Sydney, Australia

You will work with a world-class team to turn advanced research into real-world, deployable quantum technology for aerospace, defense, and Earth observation applications.

Duties:

• Lead experimental research on atom-interferometry-based quantum sensors.
• Develop, operate, and analyze next-generation quantum sensing systems to maximize sensitivity and robustness.
• Work closely with experimental physicists, quantum control engineers, and hardware specialists to implement control protocols on real sensor hardware.
• Support the transition of laboratory systems into rugged, low-SWaP field-deployed systems;
• Collaborate across research and engineering teams to translate research outcomes into products.
• Share insights through presentations, publications, technical reports, and customer-facing materials.
• Contribute across team boundaries when needed to support company goals.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Hands-on experimental experience with cold-atom interferometry hardware.
• Strong understanding of systematics and optimal signal extraction techniques.
• Experience with quantum sensor operation, automation, and data fusion;
• Proficiency in Python for scientific computing is highly valued.
• Strong motivation to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven quantum technology company.
