Quantum Compilation Researcher

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Compilation Researcher. Location: Toronto, ON, Canada

You will contribute to building one of the world’s most advanced quantum computing software platforms, translating research into performant software architectures.

Duties:

• Design and implement quantum compilation methods for dynamic circuits and algorithms with control flow.
• Optimize compilation pipelines to reduce resource requirements and improve performance;
• Contribute to the PennyLane+Catalyst ecosystem by adding new compilation techniques and software features.
• Work on physical-level hardware compilation and algorithms optimized for fault-tolerant quantum computers.
• Lead cross-functional projects involving researchers, software developers, and product managers.
• Stay up to date with the latest quantum compilation research and provide thought leadership;
• Publish scientific papers and invent new intellectual property based on cutting-edge compilation methods.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in Python and C/C++ for scientific programming;
• Expertise in quantum compilation, unitary synthesis, and hardware-level compilation.
• Strong mathematical foundation, especially in linear algebra and group theory.
• Familiarity with classical compilation techniques and intermediate representations;
• Ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams, managing project priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Preferred experience includes quantum error correction, fault-tolerant computing, quantum algorithms for chemistry or machine learning, and compiling dynamic quantum circuits.
