DevOps Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: DevOps Engineer - Quantum. Location: Oxford, England, United Kingdom

This role supports the infrastructure behind real, production-level quantum computing systems and provides on-site exposure to active quantum laboratories.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and improve development infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines
  • Design and implement deployment processes for on-site and off-site quantum systems
  • Automate testing and improve build toolchains;
  • Maintain and extend monitoring systems for servers, services, and quantum system operations
  • Track system health, software performance, and operational parameters of quantum computers
  • Own and maintain internal tools such as local Python package indexes and GitHub Actions runners
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, IT teams, scientists, and technicians

Qualifications:

  • Proven DevOps experience managing complex infrastructure environments
  • Strong experience administering Linux-based systems
  • Solid programming and scripting skills, especially in Python and shell scripting
  • Hands-on experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code tools, preferably Ansible
  • Strong understanding of Git workflows;
  • Experience with containerization tools such as Docker or Podman
  • Experience using monitoring tools like Grafana and InfluxDB
  • Good understanding of security principles and best practices
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams
  • Prior quantum computing experience is not required
