Security Engineer (DevSecOps)

Job Description

Job Title: Security Engineer (DevSecOps). Location: Sydney, Australia

The role focuses on securing cloud and hybrid systems, Kubernetes environments, and critical infrastructure for Q-CTRL’s expanding suite of products.

Duties:

• Work with the Engineering Manager for Infrastructure to implement security standards across Q-CTRL’s platform.
• Enhance the security of systems like Kubernetes clusters, cloud networking, and Zero Trust Network architectures.
• Maintain firewalls and ensure secure network access across hybrid and cloud setups;
• Support compliance and governance by improving access control, data protection, and security guardrails.
• Conduct forensics and incident response to identify and manage security threats.
• Operate vulnerability management systems to track and improve key security metrics;
• Collaborate across teams to maintain high trust with customers and partners.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a DevSecOps or DevOps Engineer with a focus on security engineering.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes in production, including management of helm charts, operators, and workload hardening.
• Hands-on experience in cloud networking, ZTNA, and secure network access;
• Familiarity with cloud and application-level firewall technologies.
• Advantageous experience includes vulnerability management, threat modeling, red teaming, and runtime security tools such as Falco or Sysdig.
• Knowledge of observability tools like OpenTelemetry and Grafana, or SIEM/SOC systems such as Splunk or Microsoft Sentinel;
• Security or Kubernetes certifications (e.g., CKS, OSCP) are preferred but not required.
