Job Description

Job Title: Senior Advanced Photonics Scientist. Location: Broomfield, CO, USA; Albuquerque, NM, USA

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure components meet rigorous performance requirements & contribute to the development of commercial and research quantum systems.

Duties:

• Design and develop integrated photonic components and systems using photonic simulation and layout tools.
• Lead PIC development projects and collaborate with fabrication and test teams to validate performance;
• Translate technical requirements into actionable plans and ensure components and systems meet specifications.
• Collaborate across disciplines including physics, photonics, fabrication, architecture, and mechanical engineering.
• Mentor small teams and coordinate with external vendors to ensure timely delivery of key demonstrators;
• Conduct testing, data collection, analysis, and interpretation of results from optical and photonic experiments.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Optics, Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 6+ years of experience with photonic integrated circuit design using tools such as Lumerical, RSoft, Klayout, or GDSFactory.
• Minimum 4+ years’ experience using and maintaining optical/photonic systems;
• U.S. Person status required (citizen, permanent resident, or green card holder) and not a national of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.
• Experience with photonics fabrication, materials for visible photonics, metrology, and design-for-manufacturing principles.
• Programming experience in Python, Matlab, or C;
• Experience with cross-disciplinary teams and mentoring.

Benefits and Instructions:

• Salary range: $140,000 – $175,000 annually. Compensation depends on skills, experience, and qualifications.
