Job Title: Algorithms Researcher II. Location: Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada - Hybrid (Burnaby, BC) - Remote (Canada)
You will work on hybrid quantum-classical algorithms, study QPU performance, and help customers solve real-world optimization and AI problems using quantum computing systems available today.
Duties:
- Conduct research on benchmarking and performance characterization of D-Wave quantum systems.
- Develop and implement algorithmic improvements for QPU operation.
- Design and test hybrid quantum-classical algorithms.
- Create graph embedding techniques to map mathematical models onto QPUs.
- Run experiments to measure QPU impact on hybrid workflows;
- Improve software pipelines used for benchmarking experiments.
- Analyze results over time to identify performance trends.
- Communicate research findings to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional experts on research-driven software projects.
Qualifications:
- 3 or more years of experience in a full-time research role.
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
- Strong programming skills in Python and C++.
- Deep understanding of graph theory and algorithm design;
- Knowledge of machine learning, Monte Carlo methods, or statistical physics.
- Ability to read, understand, and implement algorithms from research papers.
- Experience with independent research, data analysis, and technical writing.

- Salary range: 89,920 to 134,880 CAD per year for Burnaby-based roles.
