Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Algorithm Researcher. Location: Tokyo, Japan

Responsibilities:

• Work with researchers and engineers to analyze and optimize quantum computing performance on hardware and cloud systems
• Collaborate with software and product teams to test and improve quantum tools and capabilities
• Develop and maintain production-quality software across the quantum software stack;
• Provide feedback on prototypes and identify gaps in existing tools
• Deliver technical lectures, workshops, and tutorials for a wide range of audiences
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support ecosystem growth;
• Represent user needs and contribute to community development

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Physics, Computer Science, Computational Science, or related field
• 4+ years of experience in quantum computing and running near-term algorithms on hardware
• Strong programming skills in Python and Qiskit
• Deep understanding of quantum computing architecture across software, middleware, and hardware
• Strong communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills;
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
• Experience in analyzing, modeling, and tuning quantum hardware performance
• Fluency in both Japanese and English

Preferred:

• PhD in a relevant field
• Strong understanding of quantum algorithms for near-term applications
• Experience with real quantum processors and system-level performance modeling
• Knowledge of benchmarking techniques and hardware trade-offs
• Experience with hybrid quantum-classical and HPC systems;
• Software development experience including testing, debugging, and CI/CD practices
• Experience collaborating with product, sales, and research teams
• Experience in customer-facing or client support roles
