Job Description

Job Title: Student Researcher, BS/MS, Winter-Summer 2027. Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Job Type: Internship, Student Researcher

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in research projects focused on solutions for real-world, large-scale problems.
  • Collaborate with research teams across Google, including Google DeepMind, Google Research, and Google Cloud.
  • Explore research challenges and contribute to the development of new technologies;
  • Work on projects across areas such as quantum information science, machine learning, computer vision, optimization, data science, and other technical fields.
  • Contribute to research efforts that advance computing and intelligent systems.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Linguistics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Natural Sciences, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in at least one computer science area, such as natural language understanding, human-computer interaction, computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, optimization, quantum information science, data science, or software development.
  • Applicants must continue their academic studies after the engagement;
  • Applicants must provide an updated CV or resume showing their anticipated graduation date in MM/YY format.
  • A current unofficial or official transcript in English, preferably PDF, is required.
  • BS/MS applicants are strongly encouraged to highlight publications, specialized laboratory work, or significant research contributions.

Preferred:

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in a relevant technical field.
  • Currently enrolled full-time and returning to the degree program after the internship.
  • Currently attending a degree program in Canada.
  • Previous research experience through internships, full-time research, or laboratory work.
  • Experience with general-purpose programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C, or C++.
  • Contributions to research communities, including publications in major conferences or journals.
  • Demonstrated research focus or strong publication record, particularly for BS/MS applicants.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Bachelor's degree: CAD $99,000 + 0% bonus target.
  • Master's degree: CAD $102,000 + 0% bonus target.
  • Flexible weekly time commitment, project duration, and onsite/remote arrangements depending on the project.

Other Information:

  • Typical start dates are between January and August 2027.
  • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and may close earlier if all projects are filled.
  • Applicants must be located in Canada throughout the engagement. Select remote arrangements from Canada or the United States may be permitted depending on project requirements.
  • Candidates residing outside Canada may need to relocate to Canada.
