Cryo and Electronic Test Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Cryo and Electronic Test Engineer. Location: Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

You will collaborate with design, measurement, and operations teams to ensure high-performance experimental setups for the development of fault-tolerant quantum computers; The role may involve occasional travel up to 20% outside Australia.

Duties:

• Operate and maintain high-end lab equipment, including cryostats, vacuum systems, and vacuum pumps.
• Support testing and characterization of RF components at cryogenic temperatures;
• Assemble and maintain cryogenic setups, including control equipment and electro-optic experiments.
• Perform quality control checks and document all test data.
• Develop, execute, and maintain best practice procedures for lab operations;
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain lab hardware, including remote support for international sites.
• Plan maintenance and upgrades for test equipment to maximize uptime.
• Supervise interns, apprentices, and contractors as required.

Qualifications:

• At least five years of practical experience in a scientific or advanced engineering environment.
• Experience with cryogenic equipment, vacuum systems, and RF signal cabling in low-temperature environments.
• Ability to operate test equipment manually and through control software;
• Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and proactive approach to resolving technical issues;
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities to manage multiple tasks and collaborate effectively.
• Preferred: electronics assembly, soldering, mechanical fitting, and computer/hardware network setup.
