Job Description

Job Title: IBM Payments Centre Simulator Developer Intern (May 2026 - 8 months - Toronto). Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Job Type: Internship (8 months, May 2026)

This internship focuses on building intelligent game and simulation environments using modern AI techniques while exploring quantum-inspired algorithms for randomness, cryptography, and system behavior; The role is based in Toronto and runs for eight months starting May 2026.

Duties:

• Develop and train neural network models for intelligent NPC behavior and adaptive gameplay.
• Apply reinforcement learning to enable dynamic decision-making and difficulty scaling.
• Experiment with AI and GenAI platforms for dialogue generation and procedural storytelling.
• Build and optimize simulation environments using Unity and Unreal Engine;
• Prototype quantum-inspired algorithms for randomness, cryptography, and simulation dynamics.
• Support integration of large language models and neural agents into multiplayer systems.
• Document algorithms, system designs, and AI workflows for research and engineering teams.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies and returning to studies after the internship.
• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Strong foundation in neural networks, deep learning, and reinforcement learning.
• Experience with Python, C++, or similar programming languages;
• Familiarity with quantum computing frameworks such as Qiskit, Cirq, or PennyLane.
• Experience with AI frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar tools.
• Knowledge of game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine is an asset.
• MBA and PhD candidates are not eligible for this role.

Benefits and Instructions:

• Paid internship with a projected salary range of CAD 65,166.40 to CAD 100,547.20 per year.
• Hybrid work arrangement based in Toronto.
