Quantum Device Design Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Device Design Engineer, Quantum AI. Location: Goleta, CA, USA; Mountain View, CA, USA

You will work closely with experts in electrical engineering, physics, and design automation to advance error-corrected quantum computing & help shape the next generation of Google’s hardware.

Duties:

• Design and prototype quantum processors and supporting devices using internal design tools.
• Develop CAD layouts for quantum and classical components;
• Perform electromagnetic and finite element simulations to analyze circuit performance.
• Collaborate with fabrication, packaging, and testing teams to meet design objectives.
• Help automate and standardize design-fabrication-test workflows;
• Manage integration of design metadata across different software tools.
• Adapt to new research requirements in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Python or similar programming languages.
• Proficiency in git or version control tools;
• Knowledge of electromagnetic or finite element simulation software such as Sonnet, HFSS, or Comsol.
• Familiarity with IC fabrication processes and superconducting circuit architectures;
• Master’s or PhD in a relevant field preferred.

Benefits and Instructions:

• Base salary range: $126,000–$181,000 annually, plus bonus, equity, and full benefits.
