Job Description

Job Title: Senior Quantum Engineer - HPC Systems. Location: MA, Westford , CT, Remote, NH, Remote , MA, Remote - USA

You will collaborate with scientists, engineers, and quantum hardware providers to advance quantum-classical computing workflows.

Duties:

  • Lead technical integration of quantum hardware (neutral atom, trapped ion, superconducting) with HPC systems using APIs, middleware, and orchestration layers like CUDA-Q.
  • Develop and optimize hybrid workflows for task distribution between quantum devices and GPU clusters.
  • Collaborate with quantum hardware suppliers to set up connectivity, control interfaces, and co-design specifications to improve performance and reduce latency.
  • Work with internal scientists and engineers to deploy hybrid workloads, install applications, and evaluate system performance;
  • Partner with control systems engineers to ensure timing, environmental, and data interfaces meet quantum hardware requirements.
  • Prototype and benchmark hybrid applications for scientific and computational tasks.
  • Contribute to roadmap planning for new quantum modalities and SDK integration.
  • Represent NVIDIA at technical conferences and workshops to showcase hybrid computing advancements;
  • Develop comprehensive documentation and integration guides for internal teams and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Drive improvements across software stacks, orchestration layers, and data pipelines connecting quantum and HPC domains.

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in HPC system administration, Linux, Slurm orchestration, application support, and data management.
  • Proficiency in quantum programming frameworks such as Qiskit and PennyLane, as well as Python, C++, or Rust for API integration and workflow automation.
  • Strong knowledge of HPC systems, GPU acceleration, and low-latency computing environments;
  • Understanding of quantum hardware systems, including trapped-ion, superconducting, neutral-atom, or photonic technologies.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or Computer Science; PhD preferred.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for interfacing with experimental and systems engineering teams;
  • Experience with quantum-classical orchestration frameworks, cloud-based quantum services, and HPC integration standards is advantageous.

Benefits and Instructions:

  • Base salary range: $224,000–$356,500 (Level 5) and $272,000–$425,500 (Level 6), plus equity and benefits.
