Job Description

Job Title: Research Scientist, Quantum AI. Location: Cambridge, MA, USA

This role focuses on simulating quantum gates and readout processes while accounting for realistic noise and hardware limits; Your work will directly support the development of fault-tolerant quantum computing & help accelerate progress toward a large-scale quantum computer capable of solving problems beyond classical reach.

Duties:

• Simulate single- and two-qubit gates and readout processes for superconducting qubits.
• Model realistic noise sources such as thermal, flux, and charge noise;
• Incorporate control hardware constraints including bandwidth limits, pulse distortion, and crosstalk.
• Propose and evaluate new gate and readout techniques compatible with AQFP control electronics.
• Collaborate with hardware design and measurement teams to identify error sources limiting QPU performance.
• Develop data-driven strategies to improve qubit performance and system reliability;
• Publish research findings and contribute to the global quantum research community.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in quantum computing research.
• Strong background in superconducting qubit technologies;
• Proven record of scientific publications in journals, conferences, or public repositories.
• Experience with circuit QED, transmon or fluxonium qubits, and tunable couplers preferred.
• Understanding of two-qubit gate modeling and qubit readout modeling;
• Experience collaborating with experimentalists and using shared software development workflows.

Benefits and Instructions:

• Base salary range: $141,000–$202,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
