Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Site Reliability Engineer. Location: Remote, United States or Canada

This role involves ensuring the reliability, uptime, and performance of distributed systems that power D-Wave’s production quantum computers and SaaS platforms.

Duties:

• Improve and maintain monitoring systems and related tools across AWS, GCP, on-premises, and remote sites.
• Collaborate with teams across software, hardware, cryogenics, and customer support to define system requirements and ensure reliability.
• Manage on-call systems and alerting to ensure robust, scalable infrastructure performance;
• Support deployment, monitoring, and continuous reliability improvement throughout the software lifecycle.
• Operate and troubleshoot SaaS/PaaS systems using platform tools like Cloudwatch and Stackdriver.
• Monitor on-premises compute resources including servers, power systems, networking, and storage using SNMP.
• Maintain and analyze data in Prometheus, InfluxDB, Elasticsearch, Grafana, and related tools;
• Develop and integrate synthetic metrics and observability frameworks to track and improve system performance.
• Contribute to system documentation, team training, and process improvement.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years managing and troubleshooting SaaS/PaaS environments on AWS or GCP.
• Strong background in Python, Go, Bash, or Ruby;
• Hands-on experience with time series databases and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, and Zabbix.
• Knowledge of on-premises compute systems, virtualization, and network monitoring.
• Familiarity with database systems including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redshift.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to document complex systems;
• Bonus experience: Kubernetes monitoring, OpenTelemetry, and Elasticsearch/AWS OpenSearch.
