Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Applications Software Developer. Location: Daresbury, England, United Kingdom; Palo Alto, California, United States; Remote

You will work closely with internal teams and industry partners to deliver scalable software that enables meaningful quantum applications across multiple industries.

Duties:

• Design, develop, and deploy software tools that support quantum application development.
• Build and maintain high-quality codebases backed by fast and reliable simulation systems;
• Collaborate with quantum architects, engineers, and external partners on real-world use cases.
• Develop and analyze quantum algorithms for practical deployment.
• Perform system-level analysis to estimate and optimize resources for fault-tolerant computations.
• Optimize quantum algorithms at the subroutine, circuit, and compiled gate levels;
• Support integration of software workflows across distributed and cloud-based environments.

Qualifications:

• Master’s or PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Practical experience in quantum computing, quantum applications, or quantum circuit compilation.
• At least 5 years of professional experience developing production software in Python, C++, or similar languages.
• Experience with quantum algorithms in the fault-tolerant regime is preferred;
• Familiarity with distributed systems, cloud deployment, and REST API-based architectures.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-moving startup environment.
• Proven ability to collaborate across teams, locations, and time zones.

Benefits and Instructions:

• U.S. base salary range: $140,000–$160,000 USD.
• Bay Area salary range: $170,000–$185,000 USD.
