Quantum Software Engineer - Telemetry

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Quantum Software Engineer - Telemetry (IoT & Application). Location: Delft, Netherlands

Job Type: Full-time, hybrid (3 days per week in office)

Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end telemetry architecture for quantum systems, including IoT and application-level data streams
  • Design and implement data collection from lab instruments and facility equipment used in quantum experiments
  • Define telemetry schemas, event structures, and logging standards for reproducible diagnostics
  • Build scalable pipelines for ingestion, processing, and storage of high-volume telemetry data
  • Develop dashboards, alerts, and automated reporting systems for system observability;
  • Enable AI-assisted and automated debugging workflows using structured telemetry data
  • Collaborate with physicists, hardware engineers, and control software teams
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and software engineering best practices

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • Strong experience in production-grade software development and system design
  • Experience with telemetry systems, logging, metrics, and distributed debugging;
  • Strong Python programming skills with maintainable and testable code practices
  • Experience working with hardware-integrated software systems or scientific instruments
  • Strong communication and documentation skills in collaborative environments

Preferred:

  • Experience with observability tools like Grafana or Kusto dashboards
  • Familiarity with scientific Python stack (NumPy, pandas, SciPy, visualization tools)
  • Experience with lab automation frameworks such as QCoDeS;
  • Experience designing time-series data models and experiment metadata systems
  • Experience with IoT or edge-to-cloud architectures, especially Azure ecosystem
  • Knowledge of security and compliance requirements in scientific or enterprise systems
