Job Title: Stage en génie industriel - Coop automne 2026. Location: Bromont, Quebec, Canada

Project Overview:

  • Support IBM Bromont's manufacturing transformation initiatives through the People, Process, and Technology approach.
  • The internship will contribute to one of two high-value optimization projects, depending on priorities when the internship begins.

Project Options:

  • Project 1: Develop an integrated real-time production flow management strategy for a future highly automated production line using Real Time Dispatcher (RTD) prioritization modules and a digital twin.
  • Project 2: Optimize the Reel Management process for component reels used in circuit board assembly.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of different stakeholders.
  • Identify interactions between operational, technical, and support teams.
  • Participate in gathering user requirements.
  • Evaluate skill gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Contribute to training and knowledge-transfer requirements.
  • Participate in change-management activities.

People Deliverables:

  • Stakeholder mapping.
  • Roles and responsibilities analysis.
  • Training and skills-development recommendations.
  • Proposed RACI responsibility matrix.

Process Responsibilities:

  • Map the current-state process.
  • Observe operations directly on the manufacturing floor.
  • Identify losses, inefficiencies, and non-value-added activities.
  • Analyze information, material, and decision flows.
  • Quantify impacts on operational performance.
  • Design an optimized future-state process.

Process Deliverables:

  • Detailed process maps.
  • Analysis of losses and improvement opportunities.
  • Recommended future-state process.
  • Prioritized improvement plan.

Technology Responsibilities:

  • Understand the systems used in the manufacturing environment.
  • Evaluate how existing technologies support operations.
  • Identify opportunities for digitization, automation, and integration.
  • Analyze available data to support operational decisions.
  • Evaluate opportunities to use artificial intelligence and decision-support tools.

Technology Deliverables:

  • Current systems analysis.
  • Technology recommendations.
  • Integration or automation strategy.
  • Performance KPI dashboard.

Performance Analysis and Improvement:

  • Define relevant performance indicators.
  • Establish the current performance baseline.
  • Measure potential gains.
  • Present results in a structured manner.

Performance Deliverables:

  • KPI dashboard.
  • Gap analysis.
  • Improvement opportunities.
  • Assessment of expected benefits.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work with the Industrial Engineering team.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing-floor teams and subject-matter experts.
  • Regularly present project progress.
  • Validate findings with users.
  • Participate in continuous-improvement workshops.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Develop an understanding of a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Apply the People, Process, and Technology model to a real-world problem.
  • Participate in process mapping, operational requirements analysis, and evaluation of supporting technologies.
  • Develop concrete and measurable recommendations.
  • Develop recommendations to improve operational performance, efficiency, and autonomy.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a university program in Operations and Logistics Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
  • Strong interest in optimization, hands-on manufacturing work, and technology.
  • Strong analytical skills, rigor, and a structured approach.
  • Autonomy, professionalism, and collaborative mindset;
  • Knowledge of Lean/Agile concepts, analytical tools, and data valuation.
  • Curiosity and analytical thinking.
  • Strong presence on the manufacturing floor.
  • Structured problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
  • Bachelor's Degree is required.

Employment Conditions:

  • Must be legally able to work in Canada without sponsorship.
  • This position involves examining, possessing, or transferring controlled goods and technologies under Canada's Controlled Goods Program and ITAR.
  • Candidates must be Canadian citizens or Canadian permanent residents;
  • Canadian citizens and permanent residents must undergo a security assessment under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
  • Candidates with dual or third citizenship must also meet the specified nationality restrictions for controlled-goods eligibility.
  • All applicants must undergo an additional security assessment conducted by an IBM-designated Controlled Goods Program official.

Compensation:

  • Projected minimum salary: $61,625 per year.
  • Projected maximum salary: $87,000 per year.
  • Salary range is based on a full-time schedule, with the final amount depending on job-related skills and experience.
  • This is a non-commissionable, non-sales incentive position.
